End-of-life care at home

Being at home

Many people would like to spend their final weeks at home. With the right support, that wish can often be met, and the people close to them can spend time together rather than managing care alone.

How our carers help

  • Personal care, with dignity, at the person's own pace.
  • Comfort: repositioning, mouth care and help to keep skin healthy.
  • Support with eating and drinking, as wished.
  • Company and reassurance, day and night.
  • Support for family and friends: someone to share the load, so you can spend time together.

Our carers work alongside the GP, district nurses and hospice teams, who manage symptoms and clinical care. A live-in carer means someone is in the home day and night, resting at night. When someone needs a carer awake through the night, we can arrange 24-hour care with carers in shifts anywhere in England, or waking nights in Oxfordshire.

Funding

When someone is nearing the end of life, the NHS can fund care through the NHS Continuing Healthcare Fast Track, so that support can start quickly. The GP, hospital or community nursing team makes the referral. We are glad to help you through the process. Please call 01865 715780.
